A fairly sloping and rocky hill on the north side of the Achaean Sea was the ideal location for the construction of the city theater. The eastern orientation of the monument was imposed by the need for its harmonious integration into the natural environment. The theater, which is part of a wider area of ​​sanctuaries, was certainly the most important building of the ancient city. The view from the hollow is magnificent: a large part of the Corinthian Gulf spreads in front of the viewer, and when the atmosphere is clear, the opposite coast of Central Greece also appears. About two-thirds of the hollows were carved on the natural rock, while the rest were filled in on an artificial bedding. The capacity of the theater is estimated at 3,000 spectators. A well-designed drainage system sent the rains of the rain into the city’s aqueduct. The Hellenistic scenery is similar to other contemporary theaters in the Peloponnese. About 120 years ago, the Diakopto-Kalavryta railroad, starting from the coastal town of Diakopto and alongside the river, made bridges, pierced tunnels, threw “teeth” and managed to climb up to Kalavryta.

Since then, the Vouraikos River and the Odontotos have been traveling together. The trench was so well integrated into the natural environment, which looks like it was always there.
